8월 23일, 영국 BBC는 21세기 최고의 영화 100편의 리스트를 발표했다.

이 리스트는 신문과 잡지, 온라인 매체, 프리랜서 등으로 일하는 전 세계 영화평론가 177명으로부터 받은 리스트를 토대로 한 것이다.

1위는 데이비드 린치 감독의 2001년 작품인 ‘멀홀랜드 드라이브’가 차지했다.

한편, 이 100편의 리스트에는 한국영화도 2편이 포함되었다. 박찬욱 감독의 2003년 작 ‘올드보이’가 30위에, 김기덕 감독의 ‘봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울, 그리고 봄’은 66위에 기록되었다. 설문에 참여한 한국의 영화평론가가 이 영화들을 꼽은 것도 아니다. BBC가 공개한 설문에 참여한 평론가 리스트에 한국 평론가는 2명이 있는데, 리스트를 보면 이들이 꼽은 유일한 한국영화는 모두 봉준호 감독의 ‘살인의 추억’이었다.
